    3. Hi, Just thought I'd repost my info - it's been quite a while since I posted queries. My ancestor, John Tait, born sept 1859 (twin of Joseph) in Glasgow on John street. His parents were Andrew Tait and Jane Stevenson, married 31 dec 1858 at the independent church, calton, glasgow, lanarkshire, scotland. Andrew's parents were William Tait and Mary Stevenson. Looking to find out how to obtain andrew and jane's marriage certificate, even their birth certificates would be great. Thank you Sue Tait Porcaro

    3. Hello Sue, among our family documents is a handwritten notation referring to Taits. A Nancy Tait, daughter of a wealthy landowner (presumably in Scotland) ran away from home with her father's coachman. They made their way to New Brunswick, Canada. I do not have any dates but must have been about 1850-1860 based on subsequent births. Also, there is a reference to a William Tait perhaps suggesting that they took the name Tait. They settled near Shediac, New Brunswick (southeast coast) and had one daughter- Nancy, who married Josep Ahern or Aharn or O'Hearn (several spellings given in our records). One of their children, Peter Ahern, born 1860, is my wife's ggrandfather. Any fit?
