For some time many of us have been searching for any further details on Alexander McAdam & his wife Isabella McConnal of Castle Douglas. Scotland. We have so far only managed to find one son, Robert, born Co Monaghan, Ireland ? abt 1789 -- 1791? died Castle Douglas 2nd Feb 1856 married to Agnes Campbell both buried Castle Douglas. I have just found on the BVRI a christening of Alexander McAdam (above ? ) on 10th Nov 1747 recorded in Hollywood, Dumfries,Sct. Father John McAdam. FHL Film No. 1067963 Dates 1725 -- 1772. Does anybody have any further information on any of the above . If this turns out to be the right Alexander it would be a major breakthrough for many of us. We don,t even have a death date or year for Alexander or Isabella & don,t even know where they were buried. Please if anyone can help, it would be more than welcomed Ken

Ken, Have you tried looking at McEdam/Edom. I have found that McAdam = McEdom/Edam. There were McEdoms (a name I don't think is extant today) in Cawdor. I have made note of some: Some McEdoms Jean McEdom 1734 d/o Donald McEdom and Ann McMitchell Wm McEdam 1724 s/o Alexr McEdam and Christian McLean Janet 1725 d/o Donald McEdam and Janet McMitchell - Reriach Jean McEdom married 1740 William Rose Jean McEdam m Hugh McPherson in 1767 and had kids Donald, 1768, John 1771, Alexr 1773, Anne 1777 (Another Ann 1781 d/o Hugh McPherson and Jane Rose) Jean McEdom married 1740 Wm Rose There was a church in Cawdor dedicated to St Edam, but I don't know if there's any connection between Edam and McEdam.
