The following website link is a pilot for the release of the whole of the 1901 Census, which will be made available on the Internet from the first working day of 2002. The Pilot which is running at the moment consists of the digitised returns for the county of Norfolk from the 1891 Census. You can use this site to search the data for details of individuals, addresses, places, vessels and institutions and to view digitised images of the original census documents. It is a useful source of information for genealogists and local historians. Searching the database is free and some of the images are free to view, but for others you will need to pay. There's a shock!! Click on the following link: http://census.pro.gov.uk/ Happy Hunting ~ Kenny
Please note that the site mentioned is only dealing with the English and Welsh census. For details on what's happening i Scotland, see http://www.gro-scotland.gov.uk/grosweb/grosweb.nsf/pages/leaflt11 Regards, Grant Buttars ----- Original Message ----- From: "Gites Direct" <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Friday, June 08, 2001 3:00 PM Subject: [SCOTS~GEN] 1901 Census on the Internet > The following website link is a pilot for the release of the whole of the 1901 Census, which will be made available on the Internet from the first working day of 2002.
