    1. [SCOTS~GEN] Gravestone Riddle
    2. I recently visited the graveyard of Larbert Parish Church and noted down the details of some of the Campbell's gravestones The problem I noticed was that the date on the stones did not relate to the names on the stones i.e. the memorial inscription read 1847 David Campbell & Ann Irvine yet I know from the census returns that this couple were still going strong aged 76 on the 1871 census. However on the 1841 census there is a daughter Jean 2yr that does not appear on the 51 census that could mean they bought a plot on the death of there child and put her death date and their own names on the stone as a family plot is this feasible or am I way off line. This is not an isolated incident as I have found others with two names and only one date of which neither parent died on that date. Does anyone know of the custom of burying people in this way in the early 19 century ? Rob Campbell
