Hi! Everyone Names researching Cowan, McCutcheon, Crosbie, McIlwrick, McFarland I am not sure if I have posted my information on your site, so please forgive me if I have. These are my queries, if anyone has some spare time and can help with any useful information I would be extremely grateful. Although I have the death certificate for my Gr Gr Grandmother Margaret (McCutcheon) Cowan died 21 Feb 1882 at New Stables Culzean, Kirkoswald it does not show where she is buried, if I knew this it might point me to seeing when her husband Thomas Cowan and their children died if they had a family plot. I have the entry for the family in the 1881 census. Can anyone tell me if the 1891 and 1901 census are available on line or do you need a researcher to check these. Any information anyone can give me on how to go about finding any more information on this family would be greatly appreciated. My details are as follows:- My Great Great Grandfather was Thomas Cowan (father John) who married Margaret McCutcheon (father John) on 11 Nov 1847 at Newtownards County Down, Ireland. It would appear that Thomas was born approx 1827 Drumlee, Drumgooland, County Down Ireland, and Margaret was born approx 1829 at Drumawhy, Newtownard, County Down, Ireland. They appear to have immigrated to Scotland approx 1851. Their first son, my Great Grandfather Robert Cowan was born approximately 1848/49 in possiblely Newtownards, County Down, Ireland and married firstly to Jane McKie on 2 Dec 1870 Dailly and had the following children Thomas born 10 June 1871 Maybole, Elizabeth born 1 Oct 1872 Dailly, Alexander 26 Oct 1874 Delmellington. Jane (McKie) Cowan died 1 March 1875 at Delmellington. Robert then married Janet Crosbie on 23 June 1876 at Dalgarva, Barr. Janet had a child Anthony Logan Crobie born 29 Jan 1875 Barr. They then had the following children Margaret born approx 1877 Dailly, Sarah born 1879, Robert born April 1881 Barhill. They came to Australia on the Scottish Knight which left Glasgow on 15 July 1882 and arrived in Mackay, Qld, Australia on 2 November 1882. They and their family are recorded as Cowans on the shipping list, with one child as Cowan. Robert and Janet had another 11 children in Mackay. Robert died on 30 Oct 1924 Mackay Qld Australia and Janet died 24 Nov 1925 Mackay Qld Australia. I have almost completed all their descendants here in Australia. The following are Thomas & Margaret Cowan's children born in Ayrshire. >From the IGI I have found Jane born 10 Mar 1851 Dailly, marrying Charles McFarland on 26 Jan 1872 and their two children Isabella McFarland baptised 18 Aug 1872 Ayr and Thomas McFarland baptised 2 Mar 1874 Maybole. I know nothing more about this family. William Cowan born 1854 possibly Dailly Thomas Cowan born 10 Oct 1855 (I have his birth certificate) Martha Cowan born 11 Mar 1858 Kirkmichael. Sarah Cowan born 11 Aug 1860 Coylton Margaret Cowan born 30 Oct 1862 Maybole John Cumming Cowan born 15 July 1864 Maybole who went to England and married Jessie Oldridge 11 June 1898 at Salford, Manchester, Lancastershire, England and then eventually came to Australia, nominated by my Great Grandmother Janet (Crosbie) Cowan wife of Robert Cowan. I have made contact with on of his Gr Grandsons, Robert Cowan in Sydney, NSW, Australia so have his descendants in hand. Elizabeth Bell Cumming Cowan born 1 April 1866 Maybole Agnes Cowan born 29 Aug 1868 Maybole James Cumming Cowan born 16 Apr 1870 Maybole David Cowan born 24 Mar 1872 Dalduff, Maybole. I do not know why the name Cumming and Bell are included in the Children's names as I have so far found no references to these names being connected. Any suggestions as to how I can find any references to the above people would be greatly appreciated.
