My Gr.Gr.grandmother Jesse Bruce came from Scotland when 6 yrs. old to Nova Scotia with her Uncle I believe his name to be Harry Bruce. This was according to a direct grandson of hers. She had came to the United States with her uncle in 1866 or 1865. I know according to her direct grandson he said that Harry would play the bagpipes and dance from town to town to get money. Jesse's parents were killed in a raid over religion. I know my gr. grandmother was born in Litchfield, IL. this would be her daughter Elizabeth Henderson. My question is where do you think they would have departed from, from Scotland? And, maybe what ship they would have come over in? Do you think she would have been at Ellis Island and how can I find records. I've searched a lot of places and the census doesn't have her in there until she ended up in Huntingdon County, Huntingdon, PA. She died in 1905 before they started keeping death records. the county has no record of her. She died before her husband. I would very much like to find out where from Scotland she was from. Any help would be greatly apprieciated. Barb
