Dear All, I am currently tracing my family history by the name of MINGAY. Have have come across a newspaper article from DAily Mirror 27/8/99 about a remote island called Mingay island just off the Isle of Syke which was up for sale by the Glasgow born pop star Donovan, who brought it back in the 60s along with neighbouring islands Isay and Clett to set up a hippie commune. It goes on to say that there are no houses on it but there are traces of mining work. Is there anyone who knows any details about the origins of this island - I wondered if there was any family connections way back in the past ?. Anything would be gladly appreciated and indeed any details of the anyone by the surname of Mingay (or Mingaye) in the Scotland area - I havent as yet found any Many thanks Julie Wilson....
