Hi All, I'm new to this list, and am really hoping that someone will be able to help me break through my brick wall with my family name Fyfe. The only details I have are from a copy of my grandfathers birth certificate which I have recently received. My grandfathers name was William Fyfe and he was born on the 15th August 1902, at Thomas Street, Drypool, Hull, East Yorkshire. His father was Alexander Fyfe (General Laborer) and his mother was Janet Fyfe (nee Pattison). William was adopted at a very early age and never knew his real parents, in fact he didn't know he was adopted until he was 26 years old. He was adopted by William and Ellen Beauchamp, who lived at an address just a couple of streets away from where my grandfather was born. I have searched on the 1901 census to try and find Alexander and Janet Fyfe, but they don't appear to be anywhere in the census, in fact there are very few Alexander Fyfe's and none seem to fit the correct profile. All my other research has so far turned up nothing. I have found plenty of Alexander Fyfe's in Scotland, the trouble is, is knowing which if any of them are mine. If anyone has any information that they think might help, I would be very, very pleased to hear from you. Regards Linda Brookes.
