Hello folks, I'm trying to identify the parents of my ggg grandfather, Robert McNeill, born in Scotland about 1798, but I have no idea where. He shows up in Masstown, Nova Scotia in 1821 marrying Mary Crowe (first married to a fellow by the name of Berry). Their children were John, James, Robert L., Barbara and Rebecca Jane born between 1822 and 1838. Robert McNeill died in Cumberland County, Nova Scotia on Jan. 6, 1872. Two additional clues that might help: 1) Robert McNeill jointly purchased a property in Masstown, Nova Scoita with a fellow by the name of James McTyre. The McTyre name is unknown in Nova Scotia, so I wonder whether this fellow immigrated to Nova Scotia with Robert McNeill, and 2) I understand the Masstown area was settled primarily by Ulster Scots, mostly by way of the USA northeastern states.
