I only have four children listed: William, Margaret, Elisabeth and Nicolas (who was a woman). They were born to William Swan and Margaret Peacock who were married on 23 November 1830 in Liberton, Edinburgh. The family was living in Cambusnethan at Muirhouse in 1841. I have not gone and looked at the 1851 census to see if there is a robert that shows up. If there was he would probably be much younger than yours. I wonder though if there is a connection between the William Swan Senior and your Robert? Sorry that I can't provide more help.
