Hi Everyone Thank you everyone who messaged me with details about James DAVIE people they had found. Unfortunately, none match. I am trying to get 1841 Census details for Greenock as a last resort to try and find some details on this man, even an AGE at 1841 would help. He is not listed in the 1851 Census for Greenock. So far I have extensively searched the LDS Library, Scots Origin site, Familysearch site online and just about everything else I can think of and still cannot find anything about this illusive ancestor. The details I have for my James DAVIE are: James DAVIE married Elizabeth HALLIDAY on 21.6.1816 in Greenock, Renfrew. I have their Marriage *Certificate* (ordered and received through Scots Origins) --- it doesn't tell me a thing. I have copies of their 2 sons birth and marriage details - James Davie born Greenock East 11.4.1819 - married Jessie Taylor, Rothesay, Bute 25.9.1851 - and - Samuel Ewing Davie born Greenock Middle 14.7.1824, married Catherine Campbell, Greenock 1.1.1852. James DAVIE's wife, Elizabeth HALLIDAY, died in 1867, aged 84 (born 1783). She is buried in Greenock Cemetary (Plot #528) She is listed as a Widow and James DAVIE is NOT buried in the same gravesite, so cannot get his age or details from there. All I know about James DAVIE, who was my paternal GG Grandfather is that he was a Silversmith in Greenock in the 1800's (plus his wife and kids details) .....H-E-L-P!! I have photos, Family Bible (given to and bought to Australia by his son, James) and silver crafted by this man but no AGE or place he was born, who his parents were or anything else! Very frustrating! If anyone has ANY ideas, please, please let me know just how I can track down this Great Great Grandfather of mine!!!
