    3. Hi Maureen Yes, it was very sad. The asylum in Montrose is not the only one I found. Also there were many poorhouses, homes for the destitute. It must have been a very hard time for ou ancestors. As to the asylum, you have to wonder why they were put there and why so many. I feel by playing around with the CDs I am learning a lot about the past. When I checked on my ancestors in Montrose and the address (which I had always pictured as a quaint cottage), lo and behold, there were four families living there with a total of 22 people. I have noticed that a lot of the people took in boarders. Then you are also learning about their jobs or professions. So, as a history buff, I am learning more than I would in books.
