Nancy, The only William Scott I have from that time period was from Kelso, Roxburghshire, and settled in Prince William County, Va pre 1794. He was the son of Walter Scott. There is a Robert Scott, b. 2 Oct 1745, Edinburgh, settled in Va. m. Eunice Beall 1783, d. 3 Nov.1823 in Philadelphia. Could be a relative. Good luck. Judy
