    3. To add a little to Jim's reply: Falkirk library also has an index to events recorded in the Stirling Observer newspaper. The Stirling Observer Index 1836-56 has separate sections for Births, Marriages, Deaths, Crime, and General. The introduction to the index notes 'For further information on the Community Heritage Project (extends to 1861) contact Stirling District Libraries HQ, Borrowmeadow Rd, Springkerse, Stirling'. Index entries - example DEATH Barty, George, of Perth, d at Perth 1839-06-06 Thu 4f Bennet, John Mrs (nee Ramsay, Isabella) d at Lochty, Perthshire 1854-11-09 Thu 3g Hutton, Captain, of Airth, d at Brazil, Pernambuco 1850-06-13 Thu 4e MARRIAGE Gillespie, John m Easton, Mary at Falkirk 1845-01-09 Thu 4f The reference at the end of each entry gives the date/page/column (I think!) when the event appeared in the Observer. Falkirk library doesn't have copies of the newspaper. I believe these are held at the Stirling Archives at Burghmuir. Also worth consulting at Falkirk library are the Journals of the local history society 'Calatria'. Articles cover the history, geography, etc, of the area and I recall they have published gravestone inscriptions for Larbert Old Church and Muiravonside. One journal has a record of inscriptions from WW1 memorials for ? the whole county. Hope you have a successful visit. Ruth
