Dear April, I checked my copy of "A Register of Emigrant Families from the Western Isles of Scotland to Ontario, Canada - Part 1 Bruce, Grey & Huron Counties etc", and there is a Malcolm Campbell listed. I would be interested in your source for the date of 1840. The earliest recorded settlers to Huron Township were circa 1849/50, and the land wasn't officially offered for sale until July 30th, 1852. Was your Malcolm married or single at the time he emigrated? The Malcolm listed among the Lewis settlers, came over as a bachelor, in 1851. Hope this proves helpful, Cathy. > Subject: Isle of Lewis to Ontario > Date: Sat, 23 Oct 1999 10:05:17 -0400 > From: April Campbell <acampbell@ionline.net> > To: SCOTLAND-GENWEB-L@rootsweb.com > > Hi All, > > I am hoping that someone out there can supply me with any information > regarding immigration from the Isle of Lewis to Ontario (specifically Bruce > County) after 1840.
