Hi Listers Could anybody tell me how often Pigots Directories were published and what information they give. Would they list a Street Address for businesses? I gather that the Directories are divided into Towns/Cities. I have received information that my GGGrandfather, James DAVIE, is listed in Pigots Directory of 1815 for Greenock, under "Goldsmiths and Jewellers" as a "Silversmith and Vinter" ----- does anybody know what a Vinter is? This information was from a book on Scottish Gold and Silverwork by Ian Finlay and not from the actual Pigots Directory.
