Hi, Jim, I think it must be another case of what parish, what century and the registrar on whether witnesses are recorded or not. The OPR I used for Alloa, Clackmannan has witnessess for the births from 1647-1689. After 1689 the births just said "In the presence of the congregation" Falkirk, Stirling also lists witnesses from 1680 to at least 1736, as does Larbert, Stirling from 1664-1761. On the other hand, the abstracts I did for Renfrew, Greenock, Middle Parish, which I started recording from 1742 on, does not.
