Hi Listers, Interested in any information/ advice on researching the HARLEY Family, in Larbert, Stirling and later in Irvine, Ayeshire. Established facts include: William Harley married Mary Craven in June 1780 in Larbert, Stirling; Children James(1782);Elizabeth(1788);William(1793) Robert(1795);Matthew(1801).Robert married a "Jean Begg in Monkton & Preswick, Ayr in October 1828. Their only(?) child, William kA John Dice Harley settled and married in Sydney Australia early in the 1850's and later became a master mariner with an extensive family. I am interested to locate the deaths of Robert and Jean which I presume occurred between 1829( his birth) and 1852 (arrival in Australia). As this is prior to official registration, is there any expert advice available as to other sources to investigate next?. I am unable to obtain the 1841 census for Irvine as yet, nor is there any monumental inscriptions reference books for Irvine available in Sydney at present( is there a recommended source in Edinburgh?)
