My name is Alan Paul. I live in Victoria, Australia. I am researching my family lines and as such am attempting to collect information on my ROBERTSON, WALLACE, McKEAN and PAUL family ties in Scotland My Grandmother Isabella CLARK McKEAN born 1870 father Allan McKEAN mother Ellen McFARLANE married a Frederick Wallace PAUL born abt 1870 (somewhere in England according to the 1881 Census of Larnark) in 1900, son of Frederick WALLACE and Helen ROBERTSON in 1900. As yet I have not been able to find either the Marriage of Ellen/Helen ROBERTSON to a Frederick WALLACE either in Scotland or England. I also have not found the birth of a Frederick WALLACE in 1871 that may be my Grandfather. There are approximately 10 Frederick WALLACE's born around 1869 to 1871 but I have accounted for nearly all of these using the 1881 census. I also purchased the one I thought the most likely but he was not my Fred. Evidently Frederick WALLACE died shortly after the birth of his son because on the Marriage Certificate of Isabella McKEAN to Frederick PAUL it is noted that this is the name I have born since infancy being the name of my Stepfather actual father listed as Frederick WALLACE and in 1876 I found a Helen ROBERTSON father John ROBERTSON mother Marion THOMSON marrying a George PAUL occupation (Mason, Journeyman). The reason I believe that this is the correct marriage is that in the 1881 census of Lanark I found only two Frederick PAUL's one whose father's occupation was given as Mason. His place of birth was given as Peterhead, his wife as Lanark and Frederick as England. Another reason I believe this to be the correct people is that the way that Isabella and Frederick named their three sons. George possibly named after the George his father's stepfather, Frederick (my father) after his biological grandfather and Allan after Isabella's Father. If you have any connection with any of the surnames mentioned here I would like very much to hear from you.
