John Shearer said it very well. Now back to the business at hand, genealogy. That is what we're all here for. I'm going to repost my ancestor in hopes that some new lister might have some information. He was Daniel McComas(or some variant spelling thereof) born abt. 1664 in Scotland, parish unknown. He was a guard at Edinburgh Castle until the 1680s. He emigrated to America in 1685, landing in Annapolis, MD. He is said to have left Scotland with a price on his head because of the political situation there at that time. In 1687 he married a woman named Elizabeth McGill or Gill. It is unknown whether he knew her in Scotland or met her in America. She was born in 1665-1667. Since there are many McGills in Edinburgh, my belief is that he met her while he lived there. After his death in 1699 she married a man named Stephen Gill, who may have been a relative. Does anyone have any information on him, her or their families? This is all the information I have about him that relates to Scotland. Any help would be appreciated. Judy Anderman
