The recent request for SKS to look up the 1841 Census for some folk living in Bracadale, and another spot in the Island of Skye will be a tough one. So far as I know, there is no Index to the 1841 Census for anywhere in Skye - The "SKS" will have along job searching through the full Census Report, where ever it is to be found, once the correct film is found, possibly at the GRO in Edinburgh, or the Inverness Library. There are Census Indices for the 1851 Census for Skye, they seem to be available at the Scottish Genealogical Society in Edinburgh, the Society of Genealogists in London, and the Aberdeen & NE Scot Geny Socy in Aberdeen. One or two are also held by the Tay Valley FHS in Dundee. There has been no feed back from the List to my message #9 in issue 563, Re Census look up requests.I was hoping that some of us might chip in some more up to date info on the availablity of Census Indices than I had.
