    3. Like Scotland, Victoria has an online search ($10 out of your plastic for quite a lot of searching) VICGUM (Genealogists Using Microcomputers) tried Victoria, NSW, and Scotland at a recent meeting. Victoria I think gives the same information as is on the microfiche, and you can order your certificate - $17, with or without the reference number, but if you think the one you find is YOURS everything is done for you. The trouble is that the site is run by an American company MAXI which started with shopping mall booths - "Renew your driving licence HERE" and the look alike system doesn't suit computer operation. Yes, GUM did its $10 cold after two pages of results! NSW is free (or was) but doesn' give the full info which is on the CDROM and fiche. Scotland gives you a demo before you put your plastic in. A subscription to genanz-l@rootsweb.com is better value; lots of SKSs on it. Brian Fleming Sitting on the trapdoor in Melbourne (where are those McKenzies and McGregors?)
