    1. A Brechin School
    2. I thought some of you might find this interesting. The article was in Vol. 24, No. 2, Summer issue of the Andover Historical Society's "The Newsletter", Andover, Massachusetts: "Hands Across the Water from 1859 to 1999 In 1859 three Andover immigrants from Brechin, Scotland gave money to build a school in their hometown for the sons and daughters of working families. With funds from John and Peter Smith and John Dove, Brechin citizens and a government grant, the Andover School was built in Brechin. Recently, Elizabeth Murdoch of Brechin, a retired Andover School teacher and author of its history visited our Society. Her excellent book is in our library collection. She is now researching the Smith, Dove and Middleton families with the help of Pam Awtrey, Memorial Hall reference librarian. Pam descends from Peter Smith and represented Andover and the Smith family when a new Andover School opened its doors last winter." Norma Ryley Massachusetts
