Lorraine Don,t know what happen with that addy, but here goes,, I was standing by my window yesterday morning Without a thought of worry or care When I saw the postman coming up the pathway With such a happy smile and jolly air He rang the bell and whistled while he waited And then he said, good morning to you Jack But little he knew the sorrow he bought me When he handed me the Letter Edged in Black With trembling hands I took the letter from him I broke the seal an' this is what it read Come home my boy, your dear old father wants you Come home my boy, your dear old mothers dead Those angry words I wish I never spok'un Tho you know I didn,t mean them, don,t you Jack My eyes are blurred, my poor ole heart is broken While I,m writting you this letter Edged in Black Th' last words that your Mother ever spok'un Was, tell my boy I want him to come back Hope this helps, Ken

Hi Carol, The only Chisholm I have is as follows: William Tait, son of Thomas Tait and Katrine Raith, was born 27 Apr 1755 in Humbie, East Lothian, Scotland. William Tait married Isabell Chisholm on 16 Jun 1787, in Humbie Parish, Scotland. William was a farm labourer. Isabell Chisholm, may be the daughter of Alexander Chisholm and Jean Fraser, was born 16 Jun 1766, in South Leith, Midlothian, Scotland. The children of William Tait and Isabell Chisholm are: 1. John Tait - born 8 Apr 1790 in Humbie, East Lothian, Scotland. He was christened 22 Apr 1790 in Humbie, East Lothian, Scotland. Married Janet Brown. (Family No. 3). 3. Catharine Tait - born 17 may 1791 in Humbie, East Lothian, Scotland. She was christened 27 May 1791 in Humbie, East Lothian, Scotland. 4. Thomas Tait - born 14 Jun 1794 in Humbie, East Lothian, Scotland. He was christened 30 Jun 1794 in Humbie, East Lothian, Scotland. 5. Jean Tait - born 22 Jan 1798 in Humbie, East Lothian, Scotland. She was christened 2 Feb 1798 in Humbie, East Lothian, Scotland. 6. Isabel Tait - born 24 May 1800 in Humbie, East Lothian, Scotland. She was christened 1 Jun 1800 in Humbie, East Lothian, Scotland. Margaret Tait - born 8 Feb 1805 in Humbie, East Lothian, Scotland. She was christened 10 Feb 1805 in Humbie, East Lothian, Scotland. Not all info on Isobel Chisholm has been documented, so I could still be off track. Hi Lynn, I am also researching the Chisholm family. My father was Harry Chisholm. Our family lived in Pennsylvania. Other members of the family may have settled elsewhere. His relatives, Thomas Chisholm, came from Renfrew, Scotland in 1871. Thomas Chisholm's father was Daniel Chisholm birth in 1808 in Ireland. I have a lot more info, but thought this is enough to see if there is any connection to your Chisholm. I can't find a marriage for Donald anywhere in the IGI as yet. I hope this may help, somehow. Lorraine in W australia
Thanks Lorraine. I did find the parents of John to be John/Jean Bruce. I'm stuck on confirming John (married to Margaret Henderson) as the son of John Ryrie and Jean Bruce. I have the spouse of Donald as Margaret Robertson, but not definitely confirmed. Thanks for the batch number. I'll check that out now. Regards, Lynn M. Hi Lorraine, No, Catherine had 4 more children, Hen(d)ry born 1853 'in Scotland' (can't find any record of his birth so far but he was in the 1871 and 1881 census for Newcastle upon Tyne), James, Robert Alexander (my g-grandfather) and George, the latter 2 being born in Newcastle where they moved about 1858 and no sign of the first 2 children. James I found also in 1901 with his parents (he didn't marry) and I have lots of information about Robert A but again nothing for George. There were quite a few George Scott's in Newcastle and it was just coincidence I found James and parents where I did. Back to Catherine, I have a copy of the marriage entry but it doesn't show any parents, just the actual entry and I looked at the OPR on microfiche in Berwick and couldn't find her in either Roxburgh or Berwick, so probably the family moved to Roxburgh after she was born. Just another brick wall!! Pat
Would SKS have access to Bonhill church records for a marriage lookup 11 June 1873 for Hector Urquhart. I REALLY NEED his parents!!!!!!!!!! Denise
Hi, Pat. excuse me butting in !! Its hard to find your Catherine, isnt it. Did she only have two chn? IGI has Margaret b 1848 and Robert b 1850, in batch no. C117896. Cheers Lorraine in W Aus
Dear Lorraine, In all, I have not seen Margaret RITCHIE referred to as a Mary....My Margaret Ritchie married a John Beattie Harvey and had Margaret Ritchie Harvey, born 1841 in Nigg. She, in turn, married an INGRAM and ended up in Melbourne, dying at age 101. Steve in PA, USA
