    1. Murdered by Smugglers
    2. ivytrott
    3. I am researching an incident in Devon in 1787 when two excise men, JOHN SCOTT and JOHN JENKINS were killed by smugglers. SCOTT being a Scottish name, I hope that someone on this List may have come across the incident. Three of the smugglers were hanged for the crime, one transported, one escaped clean away and another possibly died of wounds. There was a third excise man, unnamed, who escaped. If anyone has come across anything, however small a reference, to this JOHN SCOTT I would be grateful to hear from them. I would like to know something of the family circumstances of the excise men. Thank you. Ivy Trott in Fish Hoek, Cape Province, South Africa.

    1. Gaelic Dictionary
    2. Leanne Quirk
    3. Dear Lister,s I,ve just been reading your emails regarding Gaelic Language. Which reminded me I actually have a Gaelic dictionary which I brought second-hand many years ago. I thought it would come in handy one day in case I needed to look for a word, which could be translated into Gaelic. This dictionary lists the Gaelic word then translate it in Gaelic and English ( which I have also just realised). Its a shame as yet I have had no use for it, but if someone would like me to lookup a word I would be only to happy to do so. Regards Leanne

The direct link is: http://www.awesomegenealogy.com/shipslists/massachusetts_JOHNANDSARAH1652.txt As you can see, you do not need to pay anything to view this ships list. :) As well, the link I provided: http://www.awesomegenealogy.com/newstuff.shtml Has 18 free databases on that page alone. If these aren't helpful, I encourage you to browse my directory: http://www.awesomegenealogy.com/Genealogy/genealogy.shtml Which is a FREE collection of over 800 links for researchers. 3. Hello All I am new to this list. I would like to make contact with any researchers who are interested in the Leyden family in Scotland. My wife is a Leyden from Newfoundland. We have traced her family back to a William Leyden or Leaden born about 1835 in Trinity Bay, Newfoundland. William's father apparently came to Newfoundland from Scotland but we don't know where in Scotland. Tony Seaward Newfoundland, Canada
