As the McGregors seem to be the flavour of the week, I'll add mine: Isabella McGREGOR, daughter of McGREGOR, weaver, deceased, married Donald McKENZIE at Galick Chapel (sic) on April 9th 1795. Their children were: Roderick b 1812 at Ferintosh* Charles bap 1814 Urquhart and Logie# Donald bap 1815 Urquhart and Logie# Murdow bap 1819 Urquhart and Logie# Isabel bap 1819 Knockbain# John bap 1823 Urquhart and Logie# % * 2nd marriage certificate # IGI % widowed with children Donald and Isabella, Sister-in-law Elizabeth Elder aged 53 in 1881 census look good. Donald was a "soldier in the North Fencibles" at the time of his marriage. Later he was a farmer* I think there should have been other children before Roderick unless Donald went a-soldiering and wasn't home very often <G>. OK, lots of gaps in the tree in all directions waiting to be filled in. Brian Fleming Sitting on the trapdoor in Melbourne

Hi I am looking for my ggrandfather and his family, which seems to be a brick wall in most respect! I wonder if anyone has access to the 1851 and/or 1861 census and could check for the following people. I don't have exact address--sorry :o( but have an idea of the area they should be found in. Sanquhar, Dumfries and area: Richard HALLIDAY--head Jean (Jane?) nee KETLEY--wife Agnes HALLIDAY, dau (born aprox. 1847) Archibald HALLIDAY, son (born aprox. 1843) I am hoping to see if there were other children, and to confirm if the family was still living in Scotland at the time of these censuses (censi??). Also looking for the birthplace of Richard and Jean (Jane?). I simply cannot seem to find any information on this family during this time period--can't even find their death records!! I have Archibald's info from 1871-1879, but then he dissapears again never to be seen again. Thanks for any leads that SKS might be able to provide! Hi Everyone, I am new to the list and am hoping SKS will help me with some current information. I have just found out that my grandfather had / has a half brother, first name unknown last name STANLEY. I have been told that he moved from Ireland and currently lives in the Highlands with or near his son(s). I will show my ingorancy by telling you, I don't know in which county the Highlands are located! Sorry. I am hoping someone can offer some suggestions as to how to locate this person. Is there an on-line phonebook (whitepages) that I could search for this person or at least get addresses for STANLEY's listed. (I did a euroseek search, but could not find anything). I ran into a similar problem with an ancestor to went to Australia, and I wrote to a the people in the phonebook with the same last name, and guess what....I got a letter from an unknown 3rd cousin. All suggestions appreciated. Regards Gillian Hanson hanson@kanservu.ca Ontario Canada
Hi List, Is anyone out there doing research on the McIntosh surname,in the Badenoch area.I'm finding my McIntosh's in the Alvie Parish.Alexander McIntosh married in Alvie Parish to Girsell MacLean.than his children were baptized at the same Parish. In the OPR I found a possible birth date for Alexander and it gave Parent's names. What are the chances that I have a connection. His birthdate would be around 1737 to John and Jean McIntosh. At the Alvie Parish. Is anyone doing McIntosh researchin this area. Thanks, Terry McIntosh
Could someone please lookup my grandfather, Andrew William Ross born 1852 in Scotland? Parents were Murdock and Amelia (Studivan) Ross also born in Scotland. Need to know if they were in Scotland then or in Halifax, Nova Scotia in Canada. We know nothing else except the above about the family. Thank you. Betsy Ross-Voorhees New York (USA)

Don - A few ideas and places to check out. The 1871 Ontario census is indexed, heads of house only, and is available at local libraries, bound by county. Check out Ontario Cemetery Finding Aids <www.schober.com/ocfa/> .Many cemeteries have been indexed - you enter the surname and it will give you a list of all of that surname in the recorded cemeteries. It may give you some direction for your research. Ontario Archives are in Toronto - There should be much there you could check out. Hope this helps. George M.
