Hello, No, I did not observe any Gaelic calendars. I only continue to observe differences in the birth dates recorded on the tombstones of those ancestors of mine who came from Barrahormaid, North Knapdale, Argyllshire and the Parish records and SRO records of births. I just question why there continues to be a difference. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks John Lester
Mary, Thanks for the poem. I'm passing it on to my sisters and cousin who travelled with me this year.. John
Here's a rhyme to go with your picture of Greyfriar's Bobby. GREYFRIARS BOBBY Greyfriars Bobby is his name, A terrier dog, but very tame, For his master's midday meal He comes too, but stays at heel. When his master died, the brave dog kept watch upon the grave; Every day for fourteen years, Sharp at midday he appears. Greyfriars Bobby is his name, Far and wide has gone his fame; In memory of his loyal trust, Brodie designed, in bronze, his bust. Mary Searles in Kentucky
I received the marriage and death records of an ancestor, Alice Gray. She married Andrew Reid CLARKE. Neither one mentions the (illegitimate?) child by Charles STUART. I'm wondering if census records exist for the Melbourne area from 1865-1899 (when I know that she definitely lived in that area). I'd be so interested to see if the child, that I believe to be hers, lived with her. Thanks for any thoughts, Janet in USA Tparkie@aol.com
Hello everyone, I have an Adam DAES/DEISS/DEAS, who seems to have married Elizabeth MORISON and had the following children in Boness, West Lothian. James 1767 possibly married Isabella SHAW Charles 1771 married Isabella STRACHAN John 1774 William 1778 Alexander 1781 Charles & Isabella DEAS nee STRACHAN, one son was David DEAS b c 1812 who came to Aust. c 1840 and married Mary Jane Gilbert. Could someone tell me if there is a list for West Lothian. Regards from Nancy in Australia.
Hi all, I previoulsy posted a marriage of John ANDERSON to Elizabeth McUlrich. This morning on the I.G.I. I found the marriage and Elizabeth's name was McURICK. They were married 7th Dec 1866 at Goven, Lanark. Hope this connects with someone elses family. Regards Nancy in Australia.

Someone has put together a new web site listing every High School in America. You go to your city pick your school and year of graduation and add your name and contact point and you can contact anyone from your class that is already there. It is a GREAT way to stay in touch or get in touch. It is never too late to get reacquainted with old friends. Whoever did this was very thorough. http://www.gradfinder.com/default.asp?refId=25738/ If you go to http://www.geocities.com/jglabas/ And click on Reunion Links where you will find even more sites where you can register. Please take the time to register! Think of all those old friends who would love to hear from you.

Thanks Audrey a cousin of mine had Colquhouns? is that the correct spelling? in Dundee early 19th century. But I can't match any other names. Thanks Jim McPherson
This thread reminds me of how I found some of my own ancestors in the 1881 census. I found the family I was seeking, and noticed that, as usual, several of the children had apparently died. Or had they? On a whim, I searched for each of the children I knew about. And I found one, along with three new little brothers, living in the Poor House down the road. The moral of the story is - keep looking!! I'm Audrey!! I don't know what I was thinking using that darn underscore character. (=: I am researching a whole mess of people in Glasgow & Dundee. The surnames are... Dad's mother's family: COLQUHOUN - Govan 1815 - 1925 CRAIGIE/HILL - Mary Ann Craigie marries one of my Colquhouns in 1861, apparently having dropped in from outer space. LAIRD/MCKEITH - Larbert, Stirling (1780 - 1825) MCKEAN - Ireland (1845-ish) > Calton (on 1851 census & thereafter) with a detour to New Jersey USA (!) ROCK - Ireland > Dundee (2nd District & St. Mary until 1879) with a side journey to Leith. Dad's father's family: GLANCY & HART - Bridgeton & Calton (late 1800's), probably from Ireland originally as they are Catholic. Upon emigrating to the US my dad & uncle became (poof) Clancys rather than Glancys. As you can see, they all lived in the very best of neighborhoods. I'd be delighted to find your ancestors shared the rarefied air in these districts.
