    1. Towns for Pat
    2. Alec Cameron
    3. Pat asked about the locations of two towns. 48 Park St, Dalziel. I'll guess: the present School by Motherwell rail station, has Park Street and Dalziel St as its boundaries. That's circumstantial evidence. DALZELL rail junction, is close to the SE. Watson Vale, Uddingston: Nat Grid Ref NS6961, parish Bothwell. Another guess: Watsonville Park, is 300 yds south of the school aforesaid. Guesses, but if I had money I'd happily lay a bet!! Cheers....... ALISTAIR M. 1. 1841, 1851 Census
    2. Alec Cameron
    3. Pat asked here...... > Would SKS be able and willing to do a lookup for me in > either of the above 2 Kirkden Census reports, or even later ones if > someone has access to them? I hope someone can help you. That's quite a work load, as you've not said <where> they lived in Kirkden. With a pop. of about 1500, and handwritten records, it might be a long trawl. A better route, could be to use the Indexes to the Census. To my knowledge, the only holder for <both> of those is the Tay Valley FH Society. If you take up membership, I guess they might do the requested lookup, gratis. Cheers.................. -- ALISTAIR M. 1. 1841 census lookup?
    2. Hi Its my first time posting to the list and was wondering if anyone has the ability to look up an 1841 census for me. I am looking for a Robert Gavin b. 1799 and married Sarah Miller b. 1805 both I believe from Lanark Scotland. They had 7 children in Gervan, Argyleshire Scotland and emigrated after 1841 to Dalhousie Twp, Lanark Ontario where they are buried in White Cemetery in Poland, Lanark Ontario. After they emigrated to Ontario they had 4 more children. If anyone can look up the census information of my ancestors for me I would really appreciate it. Thank you, Elizabeth Plymouth, Massachusetts USA

    3. Hello List: I am again requesting SKS to do a lookup for me, this time in the 1891 Census for the following: Jeanie SMITH b. 1885 and William WALLACE b. 1883. Jeanie and William were married July 29, 1905 at Blythswood, Glasgow and their marriage certificate shows their place of residence at the time as 48 Park Place, Dalziel for Jeanie, and 8 Watson Vale, Uddingston for William. Could someone please also tell me where these 2 towns are located? Thank you for any help you may be able to render. Pat, Mission, B.C.

    2. Bill & Pat Galovich
    3. Hello List: Would SKS be able and willing to do a lookup for me in either of the above 2 Kirkden Census reports, or even later ones if someone has access to them? I've exhausted all other avenues of search, including the GRO with no results. I'm looking for James Woodhead(Woodheed) ROSS, b. circ. 1800 at Kirkden and his wife Elizabeth ALLARDICE(Allardyce) b. circ. 1800 at Kirkden. They were married about 1830 as their son Robert was born May 5, 1833. I would greatly appreciate any info on these very elusive ancestors. Thank you in advance for any help you can give. Peggy - All I know is that the official PARISH records (OPR) at the General Record Office in Edinburgh are ONLY for the Church of Scotland parishes. There may be SOME extra info., but I don't know the details. This is before national registration was introduced in 1855 (?) - after that ALL citizens were registered at the GRO. I have heard that the Catholic Church kept their own records - presumably Baptism and Marriage, possibly burial (?). I'm afraid I have no idea how to access this information. I suppose it depends how much you know - if you know the (Catholic) Parish you could write to the Parish Church. ??? Ask on one of the Genealogy Mailing Lists like Scotland-Genweb-L at Rootsweb or Scots-Origins at egroups Hope this helps a little? -- Don McEwan West Lothian SCOTLAND Jings, Crivvens & Help Ma Boab.! <mailto:don.mcewan@virgin.net>
