    3. Hi List I have just found out that my GG Grandmother Elizabeth DAVIE (HALLIDAY) listed Berwick-upon-Tweed as her birthplace on the 1851 Greenock, Renfrew Census. SKS told me that this area comes under the BORDER-L Mailing List, I sent an email to BORDER-L-request@rootsweb.com to subscribe, but didn't receive acknowdgement - does anyone know whether this List is active? It is about 12 hours since I posted the original request - nothing! Thanks Janelle Canberra, Australia aurora@dynamite.com.au Researching: Davie, Halliday, Taylor, Barr, Campbell, Menzies

    3. Hello Janelle, I have just had my "test"sent back saying it had "permanent fatal errors". Come to think of it I think it must have closed down. I will double check my archives & see what I can find. Sorry about that but being on so many lists you sometimes forget which ones you are on & don't take note of who you haven't received mail from. I was under the impression that someone had taken it over as the list owner needed to relinquish. Oh well maybe the former list owner can shed some light here. Carolyn McInnes

    3. Thanks you very much, Ian. I have been searching everywhere for my Elizabeth HALLIDAY and just found her birthplace on the Census, another piece to the puzzle! It certainly doesn't pay to bang your head against brickwalls by restricting your searching to one area! - she married twice, in Rothesay and Greenock, died in Nth Bute, buried in Greenock and I was restricting my searching around there! I will certainly be checking out your Website! Regards Janelle Canberra, Australia aurora@dynamite.com.au Researching: Davie, Halliday, Taylor, Barr, Campbell, Menzies Janelle Berwick upon Tweed would either be under the Border list or the Northumbrian list, try both. Also give my website a visit, (address below) for some old photos of Berwick upon Tweed, and other Border towns. Hope this helps Regards Ian ian@ettrick-graphics.freeserve.co.uk http://www.ettrick-graphics.freeserve.co.uk (Old Scottish Borders Photo Archive)
