    2. Lucille A Richmond
    3. Does anyone know if the Daughters of Scotia lodge is still in existence? My mother and aunt (both born in Scotland - emigrated to America in 1909) were both members of the Lady Leslie Lodge, Daughters of Scotia in Westerly, Rhode Island. It was apparently a group of Scottish ladies who were living in the U.S.A. but held on to their Scots heritage. We have just now come across a ledger book of the group which goes back quite a few years. Would like to publish the names of the members of the local lodge, but we're not sure that such a practice would be condoned if the parent organization is still active. Would be pleased to hear from anyone with any information about the group. Lucille (Adams) Richmond

    3. Hi Tom - Sorry for the delay in getting back to you. What I have on the peacock line comes from a gentleman in scotland who provided me the pedigree, but without sources, so I call it unverified as of right now. Robert Peacock married Margaret Renwick and they had three children 1. James - c. 24 Dec 1799 in Newton, Scotland 2. Jean - c. 20 June 1802 in Newton, Scotland 3. Margaret c. 13 Feb 1805 who married William SWAN in Liberton, Edinburgh on 23 Nov 1830. The family then moved to Cambusnethan, Lanarkshire and had four children 3a. William - ca.1832 in Cambusnethan 3b. Margaret - b. 29 Dec 1834, ch. on 18 Jan 1835 in Cambusnethan and married James Reid on 21 Nov 1856 Free Church at Lea Muir, Carluke 3c. Elisabeth - c. 1837 in Cambusnethan 3d. Nicolas - a girl - b. ca. 1840 in Cambusnethan and married John Anderson on 20 Dec 1861 in the Church of Scotland of Forth Faulds, Lanark. So I am not sure if there is a connection here or not. 3. Hi, Jim, I think it must be another case of what parish, what century and the registrar on whether witnesses are recorded or not. The OPR I used for Alloa, Clackmannan has witnessess for the births from 1647-1689. After 1689 the births just said "In the presence of the congregation" Falkirk, Stirling also lists witnesses from 1680 to at least 1736, as does Larbert, Stirling from 1664-1761. On the other hand, the abstracts I did for Renfrew, Greenock, Middle Parish, which I started recording from 1742 on, does not.
