    1. [SCOTS~GEN] BELL line Monimail > Airdrie
    2. dell purdie's
    3. Hello all BELL descendants! I am a descendant of John BELL born abt 1682 in Monimail, FIF, SCT. My quest is to find any BELL or descendant that may be associated with this person. I have at least two of the lines descending from him and would very much like to trace as many as possible as I am constructing a database that may be of help to others who are likewise interested. Who knows we may be related or at least know something of use to others. John married Janet Muckers on 12 December 1701, in Monimail and had at least three children: Katherine, b. 1702 Mathew, b. 1704 Andrew, b. 1705. Andrew (my ancestral line), moved to Airdrie, LKS, SCT and had at least 5 children. Some of whom migrated to Canada, and my line remained in Scotland ultimately coming to New Zealand in 1849 as the Purdie line. Any help to build this database, would be appreciated. Dell (C. Lansdell PURDIE) Rotorua NZ [email protected] Dell

Would anybody have a good dessert recipe from Scotland? I never thought about it in all my gen. research. There's a lot I still don't know about my ancestors. Learning everyday. Thanks, redfox

    1. [SCOTS~GEN] Anne BEATY/Thomas MOSS
    2. deryck collier
    3. Thanks everybody for the information. We think we've found our Ann but aren't certain. We think she is the one at Briscowhill Farm, Longtown at the time of the 1851 census. We have searched Carlisle Records Office and Library for records of Ann's birth, baptism and marriage but with little success. If the Briscowhill Ann is the right one, we have found a marriage between William BEATY and Jane TAYLOR at Arthuret Church on 1st December 1830 which ties in with the 1851 census. Hopefully they are our Ann's parents but we can't be sure. Any ideas as to how we could verify this would be gratefully appreciated. Anne & Deryck Collier (Fife, Scotland)

If anyone is looking at any Fife 1841 and /or 1851 census records and comes across any PETRIE's I would be truly grateful if they could jot them down. I have no idea how old they would have been in 1841 but their daughter May / Margery would have been 13. 3. You'll need to be careful about copyright on any content not written yourself, but there are good links around. I have a couple on my Scottish Resource page. http://www.geocities.com/mjjodoin/resct.htm. There are good ones associated with the movie Braveheart (use a search engine); also the website for The History Channel has some good links. Electric Scotland has a history search engine and good articles. 3. The DL or SL in a birth entry means "daughter legal or legitimate" or "son legal.." I've never seen exclamation points. It might just be a "ditto" mark. We are looking for confirmation and date of marriage between Thomas MOSS (born Shap, Westmorland) and Ann BEATY (born Arthuret, Longtown, Cumberland around 1835-36) some time between 1852 and 1862. Thomas MOSS was born around 1834. If we can confirm the marriage we can hopefully obtain the marriage certificate and learn their fathers' names. Hoping some kind person can help.
