    1. [SCOTS~GEN] Cromarty Cemetery
    2. I wonder if any one has come across the grave of a Roderick and Elizabeth MACKENZIE in Cromarty. Roderick died in the 1930s or 40s but I don't know when Elizabeth died. Roderick was about 85. This is a bit vague I know they may have a Kate buried with them which would be their daughter, she will have died in about 1955. Hope it rings some bells thankyou Ann Roots

    3. To Researches, With the help of a Kind Lister who found for us four OGILVY'S which do appear to be ours; they are William Spence OGILVY b 28/12/1806, Catharine OGILVY b 16/12/1808, Thomas Davidson OGILVY b 1/10/1813, and Catharine Ogilvy b 7/3/1811. showing their Father David OGILVY and mother Catharine Mrs SPENCE. We have a David OGILVY (painter of Edinburgh) who was married in 2/7/1801 in Edinburgh to Catharina SPENCE (Catharina's father John SPENCE painter of Edinburgh). From this marriage we have their son David OGILVY (my Great Great Grandfather) born 16/6/1804 (who did law at the Signet Edinburgh) It is logical that the other four found are ours! Does Some Kind Soul have an Edinburgh Census to check for this period to see if the above and advise us of the listing? We seem to be at a stand still and any help would be appreciated Regards, --- Outgoing mail is certified Virus Free. Checked by AVG anti-virus system (http://www.grisoft.com). 2. simon wilson
    3. Dear All, I am currently tracing my family history by the name of MINGAY. Have have come across a newspaper article from DAily Mirror 27/8/99 about a remote island called Mingay island just off the Isle of Syke which was up for sale by the Glasgow born pop star Donovan, who brought it back in the 60s along with neighbouring islands Isay and Clett to set up a hippie commune. It goes on to say that there are no houses on it but there are traces of mining work. Is there anyone who knows any details about the origins of this island - I wondered if there was any family connections way back in the past ?. Anything would be gladly appreciated and indeed any details of the anyone by the surname of Mingay (or Mingaye) in the Scotland area - I havent as yet found any Many thanks Julie Wilson....

    1. [SCOTS~GEN] Robert Knox
    2. Chris Knox
    3. Hello All, I wonder if anyone out there can help me with the life and times of Robert Knox who was born in Scotland in 1853, and died in Waubra Victoria on August 13 1913. As far as we know Robert arrived in Australia on the SS Great Britain on October 13 1869, with his half brother William Knox. Their father was Alexander Knox who married Jane Clegg in Kirkmichael Ayrshire in 1829. William was born to Alexander and Jane in 1844, but Robert appears to have been born to a different Mother (unknown). We have a full history of all of William's family, however the meagre pickings above are all we know about Robert. Can anyone help please. Chris
