    1. [SCOTS~GEN] John ROBERTSON marrying Marion THOMSON Information.
    2. Alan Paul
    3. I am researching my family history and am looking for any details or people researching the following people. On the IGI I find a John ROBERTSON marrying a Marion THOMSON on the 1st of November 1835. It is possible this John ROBERTSON's father was William ROBERTSON and his mother Marion MACKIE. On the IGI I find the following children born to a John ROBERTSON and a Marion THOMSON Marion ROBERTSON b Lanark Glasgow 6 Jul 1836 William ROBERTSON b Lanark Glasgow 18 Dec 1838 Marion ROBERTSON b Lanark Glasgow 4 May 1841 Robert ROBERTSON b Lanark Glasgow 26 Aug 1843 Helen ROBERTSON born Larnark Glasgow 26/1/1846 John ROBERTSON born Larnark Glasgow 21 Mar 1848 James Strathearn ROBERTSON b Lanark Glasgow 18 Apr 1850 George McDonald ROBERTSON b Lanark Glasgow 1 Jan 1853 Alexander ROBERTSON b Lanark Glasgow 22 Jun 1858. It is possible that the Helen ROBERTSON mentioned above is my GG Grandmother. She possibly married a Frederick WALLACE in England abt 1870. However I have to as yet find this marriage. They had a son Frederick WALLACE my Grandfather possibly born in England in 1871. It appears that Frederick WALLACE died while my Grandfather was young. I then find a Helen ROBERTSON marrying a George PAUL in 1876. Father John mother Marion nee THOMSON. This Helen ROBERTSON married as a spinster. I then find in the 1881 census of Larnark I find them all together with Frederick then 10. born England. I am sure that this is my Grandfather as there were only 2 Frederick PAUL's and the other ones mother's name was not what I was looking for. When my Grandfather married Isabella McKEAN my Grandmother in 1900 the following notation was on the Marriage Details. Frederick Wallace PAUL The above is the name I have borne from infancy being the name of my step father. His father was listed as Frederick WALLACE Tailor (cutter ) deceased and mother as Helen PAUL previously WALLACE, m.s. ROBERTSON. Their first son was called George after the man that raised Frederick and their second my father was called Frederick after his Grandfather. I would appreciate any information on any of the people mentioned here. TIA Alan Wallace Paul Melbourne, Victoria, Australia [email protected] http://awp44.homestead.com/HomePage.html

    3. This was in the Ancestry Daily News today. THOUGHT FOR TODAY ============================================================ "Remembering the past is a way in which we can affirm our identity and the value of our own life story as we grow older. Claiming our stories--with their celebrations and crises--can bring a sense of integrity to our later years. The wisdom of older persons needs to be shared in a mentoring role with the next generations. We need to tell our own stories to younger generations so this valued wisdom will not be lost." ---- Richard L. Morgan ("Fire in the Soul")

Henryson. Wm. H. was chamberlain of Lochmaben Castle, 1374. Due to the Border wars in which the gov'ts. of England and Scotland, they were not listed originally as a clan, but they were. James H. became Lord Advocate about 1494 and aquired lands of Fordell, in Fife, Sct. This became the designated seat of the Lowland Chiefs, and reemained in Henderson hands until the end of the 19th C. The Coat of Arms is: 'Parted per pale dancette Or and Sable, on a chief Argent a crescent Azure between two Ermine spots" Motto: Sola virtus nobilitat (Virtue alone enables) Many of this Clan held high Scottish Government positions. Hope I haven't repeated info already given but I'm a month behind on my e-mail. Daphne Jacob

If however you are looking for the records you would look them up under Hawick Parish in CH2 in the Scottish Archives.
