    1. [SCOTS~GEN] Miller's From Scotland to Erie NY to Canada (Markham Tws. Ontario) to Michigan
    2. Hello listers, I am still researching my Miller's with no luck, I am trying to find out a few different things First is info on my G G G G G grandfather Joshua Miller. He had two sons first being Joshua Miller b: around 1779 d: 11 11 1851 He married Elizabeth 1799, who was born 1784. They had 9 children and he had 3 others from another marriage, (I have the children's names if anyone would like to see them.) Second born was Jacob Miller b: 1786 in Erie Co. NY d: 10 28 1869. He was married to Phoebe Gould and they had 16 children. In the info I received it mentions that Jacob was from CT. according to York Co. Ancestor May/June 2000, the Markham Economist states that Jacob Miller was from CT. Also in other info it states that sometime they came from Scotland too. Well, I hope this is enough info to go on for a little bit. Kevin Miller Coleman MI

    1. [SCOTS~GEN] Elliott, Glasgow, 1800's
    2. Bob Elliott
    3. I would like to hear from anyone who recognizes any of the following names. Joseph Elliott was my great-grandfather, born Lanark 1848, according to several censuses, but I have never been able to confirm this through church records. His parents were James Elliott and Ann Clark. No real details available, except that Ann was born in 1805, somewhere in Ireland, again information only from censuses. Note that Ann would have been age 43 at the time of Joseph's birth, so there may have been other children born earlier. One possibility is a James Elliott, a member of the 78th Seaforth Highlanders in 1854 at age 19, i.e. born 1835. Joseph married Ellen Neil (Irish born) in 1868 in Tradeston. They had one son, Stephen, born 1869, in Calton. They also had a daughter, Mary , born and died in 1871. Ellen also died in 1871 at age 24. Joseph re-married in 1873 to Sarah Darroch and had at least eight children. They were Ellen, Ann, Margaret, Robert, Joseph, Jane, Thomas and Edith. The Stephen Elliott mentioned above was my grandfather. I have never been able to find anyone related to the eight Elliott children born of the second marriage. However, Robert married Maggie Alexander Somerville in 1910, and Jane, using the name Jeanie, married Alexander Aitchison in 1912. In later years Joseph Elliott was a carriage maker, and died in 1918 at age 70. His mother Ann Clark Elliott lived to age 92 and died in 1896. I hope that there is someone out there who might recognize at least one of these many names and contact me. Bob Elliott, Alliston, Ontario, Canada __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Yahoo! Auctions - buy the things you want at great prices http://auctions.yahoo.com/

    3. I'm afraid your search in Scotland is impossible until you can find some detail to identify your Miller from the thousands in every parish. One possible place to search would be the Calendar of Confirmations [re: wills and service of heirs] which is set up in decades and alphabetical. You don't need the parish for that and heirs overseas are sometimes noted with their current location. From there you can begin to gather other data. But you are probably looking for dates too early for that source [??] Most of my work was in the 1800s. You could make a very specific query of the National Archives staff. I think I have a link on my resource page. http://www.geocities.com/mjjodoin/resct.htm Marge Jodoin, Seattle, WA [email protected] http://www.geocities.com/mjjodoin/

    1. [SCOTS~GEN] DONALD MUNRO
    2. judy rogers
    3. Hi All, I am still trying to find birth details for my gg grandfather DONALD MUNRO. It is believed that he was born c1801 but I have not been able to find any details of his birth. His parents were said to have been Angus Munro and Christina Graham but having checked out the children of this couple in OPR's there is no record of them having a son called Donald. On the documentation for his trip to Australia in 1837 it stated that he was from Sutherlandshire which in part was true as he married in Dornoch in 1826 to Helen Sutherland. I have checked Ross & Cromarty where three of Angus and Christina's children were born and also Dornoch where the remainder of the family were born and also Caithness but to no avail. I am hoping someone may come up with a suggestion as to where I can next look. Many thanks, Judy _________________________________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free E-mail from MSN Hotmail at http://www.hotmail.com.
