Hi Listers, I am researching my McKay family. There is some evidence that they lived in area of Glasgow. My gggrandfather was James McKay born 1818 in Ireland, probably Co.Down. His parents were said to be John Neil McKay and Catherine McCusker. He had a brother John and sister Elizabeth. The McKay family moved to Scotland about 1820. James married Cecilia Lawson 1841 at Dundee and they moved to USA.Eventually, they settled in Oregon. I would like to locate descendants of his brother John McKay who stayed in Glasgow area. He might have had a daughter or grand daughter named Agnes, born in 1880's. This McKay family was Catholic. Thank You, Catherine __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Hello listers, I am still researching my Miller's with no luck, I am trying to find out a few different things First is info on my G G G G G grandfather Joshua Miller. He had two sons first being Joshua Miller b: around 1779 d: 11 11 1851 He married Elizabeth 1799, who was born 1784. They had 9 children and he had 3 others from another marriage, (I have the children's names if anyone would like to see them.) Second born was Jacob Miller b: 1786 in Erie Co. NY d: 10 28 1869. He was married to Phoebe Gould and they had 16 children. In the info I received it mentions that Jacob was from CT. according to York Co. Ancestor May/June 2000, the Markham Economist states that Jacob Miller was from CT. Also in other info it states that sometime they came from Scotland too. Well, I hope this is enough info to go on for a little bit. Kevin Miller Coleman MI
Hello folks, I'm trying to identify the parents of my ggg grandfather, Robert McNeill, born in Scotland about 1798, but I have no idea where. He shows up in Masstown, Nova Scotia in 1821 marrying Mary Crowe (first married to a fellow by the name of Berry). Their children were John, James, Robert L., Barbara and Rebecca Jane born between 1822 and 1838. Robert McNeill died in Cumberland County, Nova Scotia on Jan. 6, 1872. Two additional clues that might help: 1) Robert McNeill jointly purchased a property in Masstown, Nova Scoita with a fellow by the name of James McTyre. The McTyre name is unknown in Nova Scotia, so I wonder whether this fellow immigrated to Nova Scotia with Robert McNeill, and 2) I understand the Masstown area was settled primarily by Ulster Scots, mostly by way of the USA northeastern states. If anyone can help I would really appreciate it. I have been trying to learn where the family ties are in Scotland for a few years now..... Thanks in advance, Rick MacNeil Toronto, Canada

I have census records that tell where they lived in 1881 and their siblings names including my grandfather William who was born in 1873 and came to Sydney, Nova Scotia Canada and is buried her. I am looking for any help at all tracing my great grandparents and their parents before them - etc. Hopefully someone will be able to help in this regard. Greeting All, I am again putting a request out for more information about John BELL who was b. c1682 in Monimail, Fife. He married Janet MUCKERS of Monimail and had three children, Kathleen b. 1702; Mathew b. 1704 and Andrew b. 1705. Andrew moved as an adult to Airdrie, Lanarkshire. I am very interested in tracing details about John and his forebears, if anyone could help me please. All I know is, that he was a Tennant farmer of the Earl of Levin in Leone, at Monimail, near Levin, Fife. There is another BELL family in New Zealand whose ancestors originated in Abdie, not far from Monimail. This was a William BELL b. abt 1766, thought to be a son of David BELL. William married Jean Anderson at Edinburgh in 1814 and had several children all were Christened in Monimail. Five of them apparently came to New Zealand. It is not known whether these are connected. Please help me if you can. I am happy to search Bells in New Zealand for those of you overseas, should you need help. Thanks in anticipation. Dell Purdie [email protected]

Hi everyone, this is a little off topic but I thought I would give it a try! I am a piper and looking for the bagpipe sheet music for the songs, Journey to Skye and Lord Lovatt's Lament, if anyone can help me........ great!!! On the topic of geneology.....thanks to all your help I have been able to trace my family in Kilbride to the 1300's. I have hit a brick wall. There is no record of my family being in Scotland before the 1300's. The name is LICKPRIVICK/LECKPREVICK/LAPRAIK and they had a castle in Kilbride until the 1500's when it was destroyed. I am not sure if I cannot find any records for before the 1300's because there were not any made at that time or if because they might have been immigrants as the name Lapraik is not typically scottish in my mind, maybe I am wrong. I dont know my history that well, is there a time when people came over from France or Germany or somewhere at this time, I am trying anything!!
