Those are Jacob & Phoebe's children some of these I do have some speculated yrs on so if they look familiar please inquire with me. the reason I am giving all of this information is because there is a large Scottish Highland festival in my area this weekend I will be attending and I would like to have all possible information I can have to see if I can find the Miller Clan I belong to, From what information I have I know my Miller's were from Scotland and I am almost sure that Joshua, Sr. was probably born in Scotland just unsure of where. I also believe that Joshua & Jacob could have been born there to, there is info that also states they were in the Erie Co. NY area around 1801. And then from there they went to the Niagara Falls area then on to settle in Markham twp. York Co. by abt. 1804. Then some of them moved to Genesse Co. Michigan. Michigan is where I am from Midland Co. Michigan. Well, I hope this info trigger's something for someone out there in list land, & thank you in advance for taking the time to read through all of this & any help. Kevin Miller Coleman MI
I am looking for someone in Scotland who can supply me with some information regarding one "Raibeart (Robert) Mc Kay". he was born before 1765. Robert Mc Kay joined the 42nd Highland Regiment Foot and was sent by the Crown to fight in the Amer. Rev. War. Robert Mc Kay was stationed on Staten Island which was one of the Headquarters for the 42nd. There were two Robert Mc Kay's showing as being in the 42nd Regiment, the one that I am researching is the younger one, which is my 4g Grandfather. While Robert Mc Kay was stationed on Staten Island he married a Barbara Mc Leod on 26 Oct. 1778. Robert Mc Kay did not return to Scotland when the 42nd was disbanded. He went to New Brunswick where the Crown had granted land for the soldiers of the 42nd. I am looking for the paternal side of Robert Mc Kay and the area in Scotland that he was from, plus any other pertinent information that is available, on that portion of the Mc Kay Clan in which he was aligned with. According to the research that I have already done Robert Mc Kay was from the Scottish Highlands. Sincerely Marvin Mc Kay

Is there a kind soul out their who can supply the final piece of the puzzle. I am researching Elizabeth Irvine who married David Laird in 1814 in the Stirling area. I have certified copies of the proclamation of banns as follows. David Laird, in the Parish of Borthkenner and Elizabeth Irvine dated 13th February 1814. Elizabeth Irvine, in the Parish of Larbert and David Laird dated 29th January 1814. The banns would have been read out in the church on the 3 Sundays before the wedding. In the 1841 Census Elizabeth is listed in the census for Wallace-Stone-Muir. No Husband recorded, presumed dead. She has three children. Elizabeth is listed in the Census as being 50 years of age and Not Born in that County. She is not recorded in the 1851 census but her child James laird is with his wife Ann (Waugh) Laird. I need to know where Elizabeth was born or the name of her father to allow me to continue. I have a feeling that she was born in the Shetland Isles but I need to prove or disprove this theory. Can anyone out there help. Thanks Bill Hunter
Hi Listers, Interested in any information/ advice on researching the HARLEY Family, in Larbert, Stirling and later in Irvine, Ayeshire. Established facts include: William Harley married Mary Craven in June 1780 in Larbert, Stirling; Children James(1782);Elizabeth(1788);William(1793) Robert(1795);Matthew(1801).Robert married a "Jean Begg in Monkton & Preswick, Ayr in October 1828. Their only(?) child, William kA John Dice Harley settled and married in Sydney Australia early in the 1850's and later became a master mariner with an extensive family. I am interested to locate the deaths of Robert and Jean which I presume occurred between 1829( his birth) and 1852 (arrival in Australia). As this is prior to official registration, is there any expert advice available as to other sources to investigate next?. I am unable to obtain the 1841 census for Irvine as yet, nor is there any monumental inscriptions reference books for Irvine available in Sydney at present( is there a recommended source in Edinburgh?) If any lister could provide me with any directions/thoughts, I would be very grateful, Thanks in anticipation, kindest Regards, Jenny Frost (nee Harley) (Sydney, Australia).

Hi Everyone My old e-mail address was [email protected] My new one is [email protected] My previous post to the list was. Does anyone know if there is a 1841 census for Dornoch, Sutherland, I have been trying to find information on my g.g.g.grandfather Donald Gibson and I can not find anything that says when and where he was born. All I know about him is, he married Janet MacKay of Stath Achvaich on Dec 3 1823 in Dornoch, their children were Catherine Feb 9 1824, Alexander Aug 28 1825, Marion Oct 18 1827, Margaret 1828, Joanna Feb 25 1830, Helen Nov 8 1832 and Mary Oct 22 1835. In the Parish record for Donald and Janets marriage, it states he was from Skibo and at this point I have found nothing that leads me to believe he was born in Sutherland. If there is anyone out there that has any ideas on this subject, please contact me at [email protected] any help will be greatly appreciated.
