Hello, Angela I, like you, have very little information on my McGregor ancestor. She was Janet McGregor MacMillan, wife of Hugh MacMilllan. They were parents of my ggrandmother, Ann MacMillan, who married Alexander Stewart in 1856. Alex and Ann reared 5 children in the Lochaber area, Antigonish Ct., Nova Scotia. Any connection? Andrea Strahl, CO

Hi there My main line is McGregor mostly from Kincardine, ROC - Sutherland, and Grantown on Spey, Moray all in the north of Scotland. Donald McGregor married Mary McKenzie about 1804 and they all stayed at Kincardine, Ross shire. Grandson Donald married Isabella Grant in Grantown in 1863. Hope this connects with your own line. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Frederick Maskell" <rickandangelamaskell@btopenworld.com> To: <SCOTLAND-GENWEB-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Thursday, July 11, 2002 7:55 AM Subject: McGregor, Morrison and Murray > Researching: > > McGREGOR > MORRISON > MURRAY > > I have these Scottish names in my family tree, but not an awful lot of information as yet. > > Would like to hear from anyone with same interests please > > Angela Maskell > > > > ==== SCOTLAND-GENWEB Mailing List ==== > Check out the sister site to this list shown below: > Boards > Topics > Ethnic / Race > Scots > http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/board/an/topics.ethnic.scots > >

Please forgive me if you receive the following more than once. I'm sending to several Lists. The following sites might prove useful to anyone looking for strays. Most are from the UK and Scotland, and just might be one of your "brick walls". Good luck. Would SKS know how I could find out about a HECTOR REID who once lived in a lighthouse in Stornaway. Probably in the 1950's or 60's, possibly later. Denise (from Australia)
I am also tracing the name Clark. Ann Clark was born in Ireland 1804-1805. Somewhere/sometime she married James Elliott. Had at least one son, Joseph, born 1848 Glasgow. Possibly an earlier son, James, born 1835, location not known. Bob Elliott
I am also researching the Chisholm family. My great grandfather was Marquis Chisholm (born 1865 Scotland), son of Thomas (born 1834 Scotland), son of Daniel (born 1808 Ireland. They came over and settled in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania where I was born. Edward: I read about that on Scottish news lists!! Here in the New York area, all we got on national news was a 30-second clip of the NY Police Irish PIpe band marching down 5th Avenue!!! The announcer stated that there were 10,000 pipers in the parade. That was it!! Not a Scotsman, politician or otherwise, on any news program. Eileen > Do you not remember that there was Tartan day in April to mark this > alleged fact. > It was we were told well publicized including Scottish politicians > being over and a parade of pipers in New York > Edward Andrews

Actually, it all looks eerily like the Constitution of the Iroquois. Now as to the originating date of it being written down ... Ell ***************************************************************** Every year at this time, and up to 4th July, the entire US media inundate us with information on the Declaration of Independence, and the men who "wrote" it. One never hears a thing about it being lifted straight from the Declaration of Arbroath, written in 1320. Let's inform our local media of the facts in plenty of time before 4th July. E-mail and fax are the most effective, as letters take ages to arrive since the anthrax scare.
