Hello All, I am looking for anyone searching Reuben Ross born about 1741 in Scotland came to America with family...family story says that 3 or 4 Ross brothers came over to Pennsylvania and worked their way south each settling in a different area.I do not know the names of the brothers for sure, but one may have been William and another Alexander. Mine ended up in NC: Benjamin Ross b. 4-10-1766 (son of Reuben above and Priscilla unknown , possibly Green) married Saphira Frizzell in 1794 in Lincoln Co, NC had at least one child, Reuben M. Ross b. 1797 in Lincoln Co, NC at some point the family moved to Burke Co, NC and had many descendants from there. Have recently found info that indictaes that some of the children of Reuben 1741 lived in SC. Would love to connect with anyone searching this line. Audrey Orlando, FL
Looking to connect with anyone researching Robert Elliott, born 29th August 1881, Hutchesontown. Parents Joseph Elliott & Sarah Darroch. Was serving in Royal Scot Grays in 1908. Married 17th June 1910 to Maggie Alexander Somerville, Gorbals. Parents William Somerville & Margaret Alexander.
Hi, Angela. I don't think there is much info to be had from these films. You really need to get someone in Glasgow to check the parish records for that date, I think. Anyway, do ask the LDS people for their advice. happy hunting..... Lorraine
Hi, Angela. It seems as though 1815 may have been Amelia's birth year. There is a marriage of Amelia McGregor to George Morrison in 1837in Glasgow, on IGI film no. 457992 . I use...... http://www.familysearch.org/eng/Search/igi/search_IGI.asp There is also a birth of an Amelia McG in IGI batch no. C115712 for 1815, but there are several others born between 1815 and 1819. There are any number of George Morrisons born abt the right time. If you don't know the names of their parents, you may be stuck. Anyway, I hope this helps. best regards Lorraine in W Aus
Thanks Lorraine <snip>There is a marriage of Amelia McGregor to George Morrison in 1837in Glasgow, on IGI film no. 457992 . My next step is to order the film from my nearest LDS. Do you know if the parents of the bride and groom are on these films as well as witnesses to the wedding ? Thanks again for your help. Angela
Could SKS please look up a marriage of a George MORRISON to Amelia McGREGOR in 1815. Area believed to be Glasgow, but not 100% sure. TIA Angela Maskell
Hello listers Below are details of who I think might be my gggrandfather. If it is, I am looking for his marriage to an Ann (don't know maiden name) around 1850. I have very little information to go on as you can see, but any help would be appreciated. I do know that his wife was born in Somerset, so it is possible they married in her parish. They got around a bit in those days didn't they - a Scottish man marrying a Zummerzet lady ! I have already sent a message to the Somerset Rootsweb along these lines. Best regards to all Angela ------------------------------------------------------- MURRAY, Charles Christening Gender: Male Birth Date: 26 Sep 1824 Christening Date: 27 Sep 1824 Recorded in: Stranraer, Wigtownshire, Scotland Father: John MURRAY Mother: Mary MCWILLIAM Source: FHL Film 1068042 Dates: 1695 - 1855 rickandangelamaskell@btopenworld.com

Dear Listers It's doing my head in I'm all of a flurry Please help me find this elusive MURRAY ! Sorry - no poet laureate ! Below are my ancestors taken from 1881 census. Eliza MURRAY is the one that is eluding me and I am looking for her birth. I have searched St. Catherine's fiches in libraries and at home several years either side of her birth which was in 1850. I have found her christening on LDS with Charles and Ann as her parents in 1850 at All Souls, Marylebone. Just to make things more difficult, her father Charles MURRAY married in Scotland I believe. There is a small chance that although she also might have been born in Scotland, the family might have moved to London where Eliza was christened. ---------------------------------------------------------------- Dwelling: 22 Gurney St Census Place: Newington, Surrey, England Source: FHL Film 1341126 PRO Ref RG11 Piece 0554 Folio 38 Page 11 Marr Age Sex Birthplace Chas. Mr. Dave Bennett has produced an outstanding FREE software program called Parish Locator (latest version 2.3), which contains a huge number of parishes, allows you to locate them on a map, and to plot the direction and distance from one to another, among many other wonderful capabilities. In my opinion, anyone doing genealogical research in the UK will benefit greatly from this program. Mr. Bennett is now adding Irish parishes to the program, and some are already listed. Information and download are available here: http://www.dmbennett.freeserve.co.uk/ParLoc.htm Regards, Joe Bissett, PIGGOTT List Administrator/Rootsweb I use Archive CD Books in my genealogical research to access otherwise unavailable primary source material.

I have tried to unsubscribe from the list (need to cut back on incoming mail) and was told my name is not on the list. Then why do I continue to receive the email from this list? I will be out of town for a while and really do wish to cut down on my mail while gone, please check this out and remove me from wherever my address is. Thanks so much, Ruth
Membership of Rootsweb lists is a self help thing, setup so list owners (and I am one of them) don't have to spend too much unpaid time running them . You need to send a UNSUBSCRIBE message to SCOTLAND-GENWEB-L-request@rootsweb.com Then send a SUBSCRIBE message to SCOTLAND-GENWEB-D-request@rootsweb.com And this will change you from one mode to the other. Good luck. Regarding passenger lists, I have hundreds of online lists and links to lists going to Canada at Olive Tree Genealogy's ships Passenger Lists online for Canada http://olivetreegenealogy.com/ships/tocanp01.shtml I also have a brand new set of search engines to search various databases of ships to Canada - please try them at http://olivetreegenealogy.com/ships/search_shipscanada.shtml They include most ships lists on the 'net (going to Canada) as well as a search box for the NAC database of ships to Canada 1925-35 and the InGeneas databases (2 of them) for immigration to Canada 19th and 20th Centuries. As for Census records for Canada vary by Province so you will need to consult records specific to your Province of interest. See http://olivetreegenealogy.com/can/ont/census.shtml for Ontario Census records. I also have a search engine to search the online 1901 census for Canada on this page. Other ideas for you to try: They are discussed on my census pages at http://olivetreegenealogy.com/can/ont/census.shtml Also see The Ships List at http://www.theshipslist.com/ for newspaper accounts of voyages For more details of what is available, where to find it, how to access the records, and for links to specific databases for these records, please see my article online on Immigration to Canada at http://olivetreegenealogy.com/articles/articles.shtml For vital stats (her death cert will be available to you) see my pages at http://olivetreegenealogy.com/can/ont/vs.shtml Best of luck!
