He is recorded as coming from 'Scotland' - not very helpful!! According to Scotland's People there were 12 John Knox's born in 1824 - and even more if you assume that the date of birth may not be exact. I know that he ended his days as a Master Gunner in the Royal Artillery in Tynemouth in England, but would love to know where he came from originally. Any suggestions? Is it possible to get records from England that are more detailed. I would write a local genealogy society and see what they could find out about his life in England.
