He was married to Isabella Gardiner (b. 1828) in Paisley. James and Isabella arrived in Australia in 1852. Would love to get date of birth and death if anyone has it and if any children. We believe his father was John McAlpine and Jean Forbes and they had five children all born in Buchanan, Stirlingshire, Scotland, John (1821), William (1824), James (1826), Jean (1819) and Mary (abt 1828). Hello, I also am researching the McAlpine family. I have a Margaret Stewart McAlpine who was born in 1856 Wigtownshire, Scotland and immigrated to NZ and married 1872 in Dunedin to John Veitch. I am still trying to find out who her parents were. Where in Scotland did your McAlpine's come from? I look forward to hearing from you.
