He was my grandfather, but unfortunately I never did get to know him as he died shortly after my birth. My mother Bella (Isabella) b. 1908 in NY is still alive and is Markwell's last remaining child. She is not even aware of the name change, but she has talked about him going back to Scotland regarding his birth certificate. The assumption was that he needed a copy for employment. I have gotten in touch with Christine Peterson re Markwell through one of my cousins here in NY; and would be interested in knowing how you connect to the Bremner family.
