There is a Rowan Springs, Rowan Road, etc. and I go to church with a fine fellow named Raymond Rowan. This set of Rowans were early pioneers out of East Tennessee and along with several old Scottish family names moved south together from East Tennessee after the first Creek Indian war (circa 1818). My wife and I went to Scotland several years ago and went to Castle Lachlan on Loch Fyne. We stayed in an inn at Cairndow near the head of the Loch. We checked the local cemetery for kinfolks and the first tombstone we saw belonged to a Rowan. I don't know if their is any significance as to names but the Clan McLachlan plant sometimes worn in the bonnet is a sprig of Rowan Tree. It seems that by the late 1700's there were McLaughlins/McLachlans all over Scotland. I think I am going to have to rely on ships records to ever hope to find a connection. I thank you for your help. Paul
