My gggrandfather, John SOMMERVILLE, immigrated with and in two years of immigration, married Janet ARMSTRONG in Troy, New York. Both of them came from Scitland. In tracking her back I came across a Janet ARMSTRONG born on May 9, 1813. Up to this point have been going off census records and ships passenger list to guess her birthdate in 1814. The birth OPR's show she was born in parish of Tynron in county Dumfries. My gggrandfather was from parisn Carnwath in Lanark. Is this close enough? I knoww that in general people did not travel to far from home to be married, but I think this is fairly close. Her parents are listed as Robert ARMSTRONG and Agnes DUNN. The Scottish naming convention would be correct in this case. Does this sound faniliar to anyone? Bob Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
