There were 3 MacHattie brothers who emigrated from Scotland in 1786: Alexander, William and George. Another brother, John, stayed in Scotland. Alexander dropped the "Mac" from his name after arriving in Nova Scotia. But, a couple of his descendants reinstated the "Mac". Alexander lived for some years at Barney's River, Pictou Co. and then moved to W. River, Pictou Co. near Fairweather's Mill on the east side of the river in 1795. He lived at the Ten Mile house on 600 acrea for nearly 25 years and then moved to E. River, St. Mary's in Guysborough Co., Nova Scotia. William MacHattie settled on a 200 acrea grant at Barney's River. George lived at Newport, Hants Co. He married Mary Ann Maxwell Jadis. I have no other information on William and George. Alexander married Catherine Carolyn MacDonald, daughter of Joseph MacDonald (who had 9 daughters). I have an extensive amount of information of this Hattie family ! line if you are interested. Most of my information comes from the book, "Hattie Memoires".Let me know if there is anything more I can do to help you.
