Have you got any more information on whereabouts in Scotland this Newton is? What's your source of information? If you're still not sure, you might be able to work backwards on the IGI (if their marriage has been included) at <http://www.familysearch.org/Eng/Search/frameset_search.asp> Search for them and see what comes up?
