He was in touch with the family up 'til the late 1940's. Any info. would be much appreciated." A branch of my McPhail family, John McPhail went to Jamaica in 1840. Some of his decendants used the Macphail spelling of our name. There are serveral M(a)cphail still living in Jamaica to this date.
