Denning name......... Scottish or Irish? One source says the original name was Denoon, a sept of both the Campbell and Ross Clans. However, every imigrant with the name I ever saw was listed from Ireland (perhaps part of the transplanting of Scottish Highlanders to Ireland???). I tend to believe in the Scottish origins since my most distant ancestors I can trace were Presbyterian (not definite proof, I know). Has anyone out there ever traced thier Denning line all the way back to Scotland ? If so what part. Obtw, I once saw the Denning name listed with the Scottish Genealogical Society as being from Strathearn. Any comments??????
