This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/EgC.2ACE/9991 Message Board Post: Hello Listers, I am pleased to announce that the Scottish part of FreeREG is about to start. This is a sister (or brother!) project to FreeBMD and FreeCEN. FreeREG aims to produce quality transcriptions of the Old Parish Registers so that they can be searched, free, on the Internet. I am the Scotland co-ordinator and I am looking for people who would like to co-ordinate the distribution of film within a particular county and give support to volunteer transcribers. Only Angus and Fife have co-ordinators at present. We have the requisite permissions from GROS for this, and the Genealogical Society of Utah is kindly lending us the film. You will find the FreeREG site at www.freereg.rootsweb.com if you wish to read more about the project in general. If you would like to be a county co-ordinator, please get in touch with me at annef1@tiscali.co.uk . If you would simply like to transcribe, then please also get in touch and I will hold your names until we have a co-ordinator for the county of your choice. All the best, Anne Fish
