Listers., Every so often I try to locate a birthplace and date for a grgrgr of mine, One James Patrick Main (Various.. as above) Believed to be originally from Edinburgh, he was a convict transported to Tasmania on the 'Hibernia' in 1818. He was born c1802., married Maria McLeod in Tasmania in 1826 and died in Victoria in 1876. I am descended from their eldest child, John James (McLeod) Main, born in 1826. They had another ten children over the next 20 years. He had a half-brother James McNab Main (Various) who was transported as well some ten years later. After gaining his pardon, James Patrick eventually set up as a builder in Melbourne and became a successful member of the community, building a few important buildings along the way. If anyone has a connection or can help with a birthdate and/or birthplace, you will have solved a very long search. Thanks Dave
