    3. Hi there I have forgotten my geography after so many years so I'm not sure which list I should be joining. I am trying to trace my grandfather Thomas McNaughton who was born in 1871-73. I was told in the beginning that he was born in Middlesbrough / Stockton / Thornaby , England. After a number of years searching in those areas I have heard that there maybe a possibility that he was in fact born in Scotland. He appears in the 1901 UK census with his wife Mary Ann and daughters. There is a mention in the 1891 Census of a Thomas McNaughton born in Scotland in 1873 who was lodging in Stockton, Co Durham with the trade of ships riveter. I do know that he worked in the local ship yards in the Middlesbrough area as a riveter since my father worked as his Riveter Heater or Catchers Boy. I have been unable to find him in the 1881 Census. Would I be right in assuming that Glasgow was the main shipbuilding area in Scotland in those days? If so would there be a "List" more localised to Glasgow that I should join? Regards Gareth McNaughton
